I’m Anoopa John. I'm a graphic designer and brand consultant based out of Bangalore. I take on independent design, and strategy-led projects. I also work as a part-time design consultant for Varana.
Academically, I have an under-graduate and a post-graduate degree in History of Fine Arts and Graphic Design from Stella Maris College in Chennai. I also have a masters degree in Graphic Branding and Identity from London College of Communication.
I began my career in design and art direction at Rubecon in Chennai in 2008, a studio that works on advertising and communication campaigns, branding, and packaging design projects. After I left Rubecon, I spent six months at Thought Factory Design in Kochi, a boutique art and design studio. The studio's founder, Theresa George Joseph, was a great mentor and projects at TFD focused on latin and vernacular typography, print, and production techniques. I joined LCC for my masters soon after this stint. My experience at TFD helped me focus my studies on two areas of design – craft and strategy.
A year later, I joined Ray+Keshavan (now Brand Union), a brand and design consultancy based out of Bangalore, known for its large-scale branding projects that were executed under the creative leadership of Sujata Keshavan. At R+K, I also got to work with and learn from Meeta Malhotra, Arvind Hedge and Dan Ellis. I had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of design projects for various sectors, such as, airlines, real estate, financial services, FMCG, manufacturing, science and technology services, and pharmaceuticals.
After spending three and half years at Ray+Keshavan (Brand Union), I moved on to work as an independent designer in 2015. While designing for branding and packaging remains the core of the work that I do, I also work on print, publication, motion graphics and web design projects.
